Natural and Certified Materials

Natural fabrics are not always considered to be the most sustainable option. However, the best thing we can all do for our planet is to buy clothes which will stay with us for a lifetime. Therefore our choice of fabrics was dictated by their longevity and comfort attributes. And in that respect, natural fabrics such as silk and wool will always be the winners.

Silk Linen Viscose Cotton Wool

The strongest natural fabric. It is also lightweight and breathable, reducing the risk of overheating. Whenever possible, we choose GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)- certified organic silk, a more sustainable alternative than conventional silk, produced with no pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Low-impact fabric made from the fibres of the flax plant, requiring much less water to cultivate than Cotton. It is the second strongest fabric after silk, also known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties. Whenever possible, we choose EUROPEAN FLAX® - certified linen, which guarantees traceability at each processing step.

Semi-natural fabric derived from wood pulp, regenerated into cellulose fibre and spun into yarns. Viscose is soft, breathable and absorbent, making it comfortable and easy to wear. We prioritise FSC - certified viscose. The Forest Stewardship Council certification guarantees that the fibres come from sustainably managed forests.

Natural fabric made from the cotton plant. It has many advantages, such as its moisture-absorbency, softness and breathability. However, its production is very water-intensive. Therefore, we choose Organic Cotton, a more sustainable alternative whenever possible. It is grown without harmful chemicals and pesticides, and its production is less water-consuming.

Natural animal fibre obtained mainly from the fleece of sheep and goats. Apart from its heat-retentive capabilities, it is also moisture-absorbent and breathable. Furthermore, it offers natural UV protection and has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. We prioritise wool with RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certification, ensuring wool farmers follow the best animal welfare and land management practices.

No polyester in the main fabrics

You will never find a dress made out of polyester in our collections. Polyester is a synthetic fibre derived from crude oil. We made a conscious decision not to choose fabrics which contain it because we don’t like the idea of being dressed in petroleum. Furthermore, polyester is not biodegradable and releases microplastics into our water system. *When incremental for specific cuts, we allow for small percentages of synthetic-based fibres such as elastane or polyamide, however no more than 20%.

Corozo Buttons

Corozo buttons are a natural alternative to traditional plastic buttons in the fashion industry. These buttons are made from the seeds of the Corozo palm tree, which is native to South America. One of the main benefits of using Corozo buttons is that they are biodegradable, environmentally friendly and also very durable. Unlike plastic buttons, which can take hundreds of years to decompose, Corozo buttons are made from a renewable resource that will break down much more quickly once they are discarded.

Responsible packaging

We want to be as vigilant about our packaging as we are about our clothes. Therefore, we constantly research the most environmentally friendly ways of packaging our products. When buying from our website, your clothes will arrive hand wrapped in a fully recyclable tissue inside a biodegradable box made of recycled paper. Our labels are also fully biodegradable and made out of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) - certified paper. We believe the less packaging – the better for the planet.
